2009 KEYC-TV “Good People” award for his contributions to his community.

In making the presentation, Dion Cheney, KEYC-TV
News Anchor recognized Christensen for the following:
·
purchasing the local newspaper when it
was about to leave town;
·
being instrumental in building a new
public library and locating a new elementary school building on main
street;
·
purchasing and reopening the local movie
theater after it had been closed for five years;
·
purchasing and renovating the oldest
building in the county and putting
·
a mural on it that was instrumental in
starting a local annual celebration;
·
negotiating to keep a local variety store
open after it had been announced that it would close;
·
commissioning and funding a bust, in the
local veterans’ memorial park, of a local man who had risen from Air
Force enlisted ranks to the rank of major general, become the first head
of the Electronic Security Command, and had a building on Lackland Air
Force Base named after him.
·
as President of the area Boy Scout
Council, engineered the elimination of a substantial debt and the
accumulation of a significant reserve; and
initiated and funded, along with the County, a non-profit redevelopment
corporation to foster economic development in the area.

receive the

33 authors, in 15 different categories, from among more than 500 books
